We specialise in FIRE PREVENTION and have been proudly providing south east Queensland businesses and Residential & Commercial Body Corporate groups with routine maintenance of fire safety installations and services since 2000.

The prescribed routine maintenance of fire equipment in Australia is regulated with an objective to maintain compliance, and protect people and buildings. Olympic Fire Services ensure our customers understand exactly what they need to do to comply. This is achieved through exceptional customer support and always servicing to a very high standard.

Are you prepared for the upcoming Smoke Alarm Legislation changes?

New smoke alarm legislation will make Queensland households the safest in Australia in relation to fire safety.

The new legislation specifies that all Queensland dwellings will be required to have interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms in all bedrooms, in hallways that connect bedrooms with the rest of the dwelling and on every level.

To comply with legislation, interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms are required:

  • From 1 January 2017: in all new dwellings and substantially renovated dwellings
  • From 1 January 2022: in all domestic dwellings leased and sold
  • From 1 January 2027: in all other domestic dwellings

The smoke alarms are required to be powered by either hard wired 240 volt or 10-year tamper proof battery. Similarly, they must either be interconnected (if one smoke alarm sounds they all activate) or wireless to all other required smoke alarms in the dwelling. All smoke alarms that are required by legislation must be AS3786-2014 compliant smoke alarms.
