Fire Safety Training

Fire safety training and fire extinguisher instruction is a requirement by law as stated in the Building Fire Safety Regulation 1991 section 11, 12 & 13 (State Government Legislation).

This legislation maintains that all employees must have annual instruction in the method of operation of fire fighting equipment and any new employees working in the building must be instructed within 30 days of commencing employment. With our new fire protection equipment it means our fire safety training can be completed on any site.

Fire safety instruction is broken into two components:
Theory and Practice.

During instruction all employees will be educated in:

  • The safe methods of using a fire extinguisher.
  • The use of correct extinguishers for the various types of fires.
  • What to do in the event of fire and if an evacuation is required.
  • Fire prevention basics.
  • Home & workplace safety.
  • Fire safety check lists.
  • Motor vehicle considerations.
  • Personal safety.
  • Building alarms & evacuation procedures.
  • Fire extinguisher identification and operation.

Practice

All participants will experience a demonstration on the correct methods of using a fire extinguisher. This is based on the method of extinguishing called P.A.S.S

  • Pull
  • Aim
  • Squeeze
  • Sweep

Participants will also be able to expel a fire extinguisher.

Requirements on the day

Our fire instruction is environmentally friendly and easily performed on location at your work premises. Participants are to wear closed footwear wear either cotton or woollen clothing and have hair tied back.  A cleared area in car park or vacant block must be available to safely conduct the training with access to a fire hose reel.

Upon completion all participants will be issued with a certificate; your company will also receive a Staff Training Record. For compliance purposes this training record can be presented to your local authority and or insurance company upon their request.

Fire Instruction Equipment (The state of the art equipment we use when providing fire safety training with the option of either using digital flames or safely ignited live flames)

Olympic Fire Services have invested in two of the latest technology portable fire instruction devices. This authenticates the fire instruction experience for training and gives participants a realistic idea of what to expect in a real life scenario.

The fire instruction system has two devices, live fire practice using the I.T.S system (intelligent training system) and Bullseye our laser driven training system, which allows training to be delivered indoors and at specific site locations where mess could be a problem. The difference between the two systems is that one uses digital flames and the other uses safely administered live fire.

The Bullseye and I.T.S training systems and the Olympic Fire Services technician create a variety of realistic fire instruction experiences for you to ensure that your staff are fully competent in the event of a fire. The system senses where the trainee aims and sweeps the Smart Extinguisher and automatically varies the digital flames in response.

The Bullseye laser Driven extinguisher fire instruction system is a facility which can be used in any environment, indoors or outdoors. The Bullseye unit generates only digital flames – so it is completely safe. This allows more flexibility with how and where your staff are trained.

Using a conical laser, the system can record if the trainee is fighting the fire correctly. The system has the ability to increase flame size using the “Flare Up” feature to enable the trainee to fight various classes and strengths of fire. The system only extinguishes the digital flame once the trainee has demonstrated the correct method of fighting the fire using the correct sweeping pattern.

Bullseye

  • Laser Driven digital Fire extinguishing instruction system
  • Uses conical laser to extinguish digital flames
  • Training can be carried out anywhere – indoors and outdoors
  • Various classes of fire simulation available
  • Flare up option

The I.T.S System (intelligent training system) has 3 types of fires it can safely create – Rubbish Bin, Stove top and Motor engine fires. These various options allow the instruction to be realistic and relevant. Like the Bullseye system the I.T.S system also allows the class of fire to be increased and if the trainee is ready to move on, there is a flare up option. The I.T.S system has a cut off switch to immediately turn off the propane which creates the flames, therefore extinguishing the fire automatically. The I.T.S system works with a smart extinguisher – which uses water and pressurised air instead of expensive and messy dry chemicals or CO2.

I.T.S

  • Live Fire system
  • Uses water and pressurised air Smart Extinguishers
  • Training best done outside
  • Auto cut off switch
  • Various classes of fire simulation available
  • Flare up option

Both I.T.S and Bullseye are completely safe and measurable so you know how well your staff performed during the training session. Our revolutionary training aids will give you peace of mind that your staff are trained properly, a safe fire instruction experience with less mess and less staff outage time.
